Can’t believe we’re already back to mock drafts.
Ugh.

I think if we really want to make an educated guess about who we’ll draft, we have to wait until Pace is done in free agency. Whichever positions he spends big on in FA, he’ll also make a priority in the draft.

He calls this “attacking” a position.

Even though Alex Cappa is a player who intrigues me, I absolutely hate this draft. We need OLB help more than CB. We need more immediate offensive line help than a division two player will give us. And I absolute detest the idea of Ridley at #8. He's NOT that good.

I generally like Brian Perez's stuff (I follow him on Twitter), but I like nothing about that mock.

Calvin Ridley at 8?? Ridiculous.

IMO - not what I would do but making this guess based on Pace's recent history...

IF Ridley tests and works out well, I think he may be the pick at 8. When the Bears needed a 3/4 OLB, they drafted Leonard Floyd, the perceived top 3/4 OLB prospect in the 2016 draft. In 2017, when they needed a QB, they drafted Mitch Trubisky, the prospect they held in the highest esteem in the draft.

Heading into 2018, no need is more acute (save for CB if they lose both Fuller and Prince) than WR. If Ridley emerges as the top WR prospect in the draft, imo, there's a decent chance Pace takes him.

Not a fan at all. Doesn’t address team needs like I think they need to be.

That said if OL and OLB are addressed in FA I could warm up to it but even if they do that in FA , I’m not sold that Ridley is a top 8 talent.

Yes, but in both those cases, he moved up to get the player he wanted. I don't think that reaching for a position of need is what Pace will do, even if that player happens to be the best at that position.
